Kelsey Hedberg,

Kelsey is a children and family, bilingual (English and Spanish) Registered Clinical Social Worker Intern. Kelsey received a BSW and an MSW at FGCU and began her mental health journey in the school system as a behavioral specialist for two years, before entering the therapy profession. Kelsey works within non-profit agencies offering her time and experience, engages in public speaking at the collegiate and high school level, runs support groups, as well as working as a therapist at Grow Beyond Counseling. Kelsey is trained in Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault through the FCADV. She utilizes Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Attachment-Based Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Family Systems Therapy, and Mindfulness when working with her clients.
Kelsey believes that each session belongs to both the therapist and the patient, and to the interaction between them. Creating a safe and welcoming environment that will foster change and healing, but most importantly trust. Kelsey uses wise compassion with her clients, allowing the ability to give loving truth to clients by using honesty at all times. “Feeling felt” is her goal for every session completed.
Kelsey was awarded the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) social work student of the year in 2019, for outstanding contributions to the social work profession based off her work at Florida Gulf Coast University. Kelsey has built over 10 homes, spent over 3 years working and living in orphanages and rural communities, and over 26,000 hours volunteering throughout Costa Rica. Kelsey has lived abroad throughout her life, granting her the ability to work with vulnerable populations and serve communities of need. Her passions lie in working with vulnerable children in developing community-centered thinking and raising awareness of mental health and the challenges individuals face.
